Chikkamagalur, Sep 17: With Hindutva activist Chaitra Kundapura caught in the police net, people's excitement reached a climax in Mavinakatte village of Koppa taluk in Chikkamagalur district. They cleaned the area with theertha (holy water) where Chaitra had walked. Last year, Chaitra Kundapura, who had participated in a Hindu Sangam program, had created a commotion between two factions in the village by making a big deal out of a small matter. So the villagers had taken vows before the village deity against Chaitra, seeking her punishment within a year.
On October 4, 2022, there was a clash in the village regarding the Bhagwa flag during a Hindu Sangam program. Chaitra Kundapur, who had arrived as the keynote speaker of the program, delivered a provocative speech that led to a commotion between two communities. Later, the villagers had protested against Chaitra's speech and prayed to their deity seeking punishment for her.
Now, with the CCB arresting Chaitra in a fraud case, the villagers performed a special pooja to the deity to fulfill their vow.
