Sullia, Sep 18: It is reported that a woman, a resident of Jayanagara in the taluk, was divorced over WhatsApp by her husband, who is employed overseas.
The woman has filed complaint against her husband in Sullia police station. Abdul Rasheed, a native of Trissur in Kerala, got married to the complainant girl from Jayanagar here, seven years ago. The relation between husband and wife was good and they have two daughters. Two years ago, Rasheed had called his wife to abroad too. Later, he left her at her Sullia home for their second child’s delivery.
It is said that recently there were some issues in their marital life. But elders in the family tried to sort it out. But Rasheed did not hear the advice and sent his wife a WhatsApp message pronouncing triple talaq.
Sullia police are investigating further.
