Anna Hazare to Defy Section 144 - Will it Lead to Anarchy?

Daijiworld Media Network

New Delhi, Aug 15: The tussle between the union government and Team Anna Hazare is set to intensify with civil society leader Anna Hazare's announcement that he and his supporters would defy the prohibitory section 144 imposed by Delhi police around the JP Park and go ahead with the proposed march and fast demanding a strong Lokpal Bill.

Following the announcement, a sense of impending anarchy has descended on New Delhi, especially of Anna and his team get arrested on Tuesday August 16 for defying section 144.

Political observers feel that if Team Anna is arrested, the movement may intensify and there could be a possibility of more people joining in.

"I am ready for arrest and will stick to my cause. This government is not listening to anyone. I will continue my fast even in jail," challenged Anna Hazare while speaking to the media after learning that the Delhi police had imposed section 144, which prohibits people from gathering in groups of more than four.

Aravind Kejriwal, a member of the civil society lashing out at the government said, "The Delhi government has put 22 conditions before Anna to go on fast. Can the same government dare put the same conditions before any political party wanting to organise a protest? Why such double standards between political parties and the civil society? At any cost we will defy the section and go ahead with our proest."

Another follower of Anna Hazare told the media that there was nothing wrong in defying section 144. Look at the UP government - whenever Rahul Gandhi visits Lucknow for any kind of protest or meetings, the Mayawati administration imposes section 144, but Rahul Gandhi defies it every time. But he has never been arrested there. So what is wrong with us defying the orders?"

But anti-Anna Hazare leaders say that Hazare and his team are arrogant. "How can they dictate terms on the Lokpal Bill? It is like holding someone at gun point  and saying, do this, or else I will shoot you! This strategy is against the principles of democracy, and will not work."

If Anna Hazare is arrested in Delhi on August 16 there could be chaos in the city, and with Anna threatening a 'Jail Bharo' movement, the arrest could well turn out to be a big headache to the government.

There are possibilities that instead of arresting, the Delhi administration might take Anna and his team to another place.

I seen few comments on this page, ppl say that, anna is wid some party and some1 is behind him,n were was he when NDA was in power.Guy's im not telling UPA did not do anything to country, but what they did, a normal is not benefited right.
And if GOVT lokpal presented in parliament then, its nothing but another joke.a normal person who is facing problem in his place due to corruption cant use that bill.
And one more thing till the time, any investigation agency under any GOVT its like a playing toy.
I am not telling, that agency wont work properly, they ll fight hard n give report but it ll will not be used by da GOVT(any GOVT).so always
investigation agency shld be out of
GOVT hand. Its a fight against system, which is not working properly, not against GOVT.Its a fight against those, who think they are above the normal citizen. Its not against who's GOVT right and who's wrong, its about what you are going to do against this system. So if you can't support then sit. will support and change the system for u.

People who are commenting ill about Annaji is may be because they dont know what does corruption means or may be they are part of corruption or may be just be just because they are Kangress Supporters they want to defame annaji.

May be they dont know how difficult for a middle class person to pay bribe to get a job done. Its very easy to sit in Middle East and comment on the issue which is irrelevant to them

Now people have started finding faults in Anna Hazare himself. What is wrong in fighting against corruption? People have forgotten that we got independence from the Britishers with the help of nationwide agitations. Atleast Britishers gave some value to non-voilence, but our political representatives have no value for it! Is it not shameful?

Can anyone suggest a better way to control the corruption in India? How can anyone trust these corrupt politicians to pass a strong Lokpal bill when not a single politician inspires trust in common man.

In the spirit of tapasya everything is quite edifying, without that everything is tamasha! To label the PM as a liar while commenting on the National address at the Red Fort, was not proper on the part of Anna Hazare. May Truth prevail all the time in Peace and Harmony!

As a citizen of this country Mr.Anna Hazare has got the right to express his views on Lokpal bill and agitate & fast with his Team. But his agitation & fast should be within the frame work of the conditions and see that decorum is maintained during fasting. He claim himself a Gandhian of 20th century. It appears that all anti Government parties are backing up this Annaji to go head with fasting. State as well as Central Govt. have to maintain law & order. That is why Sec.144 is imposed today by the Delhi Police. Yes corruption is building up not only in Congress ruling states but also in non-congress ruling states too. It is the people of India who will decide what best can be done to eradicate Corruption. Let us wait & see what will happen today.

anna hazare is working on the instructions of his masters BJP .Why not allow govt.to place the draft of lokpal bill in the parliament and see the true colours of political parties.Anna is pseudo gandhian. He shall be taken out of delhi and put behind bars. His lieutenant Arvind Kazriwal call for people to come on the streets shows the true colours of so called Civil society. On seeing the true colours of Anna Hazare, Swami Agnivesh has distanced himself from the movement.Donot allow them to hold the city to ransom. They are under the remote control of BJP.
