Kasargod: Tragic accident claims life of MBBS student riding scooter

Kasargod, Sep 18: A heartbreaking incident occurred in Kasargod as an MBBS student lost her life when her scooter became lodged and overturned in a pit.

The victim, identified as Shivani Baliga (20), was the daughter of Maheshchandra Baliga, former president of the Kannur Chamber of Commerce. She resided near Kannur St Michael's School.

The tragic accident unfolded at around 7 pm on Sunday, along the Pilikunje-Chandragiri road in Kasargod. Shivani sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital for treatment. Sadly, she did not respond to medical intervention and passed away on Monday evening.

Shivani is survived by her father, mother Anupama, and her brother Rajat Baliga, who is employed as an engineer in Bengaluru.

Kasargod police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
