Udupi, Sep 19: A wife poured boiling water mixed with chilli powder on her husband in a fit of rage at Manipura near Katapadi. The man is admitted in hospital.
Mohammed Ashraf is the victim of this barbaric act. His wife Afreen, her mother and father are involved in the act.
Asif (22), native of Karkala taluk, married Afreen, a native of Manipura and daughter of Hussain, a resident of Gujji in Manipura village 11 months ago. Afreen lived in Mohammed Asif’s house for just one and half month and came back to her parents’ house in Manipur. Asif also was living with his wife at his in-laws’ place since nine months.
Afreen suspected that her husband Asif has extra-marital relation and used to quarrel with him every now and then. On September 17, while Asif was having bath at around 6.45 pm, Afreen knocked on the door of the bathroom and poured hot water mixed with chilli powder on Asif.
Asif ran out screaming. Hussain, his father-in-law, calmed him down and brought him back into the house. Asif received huge boils on his face, body, hands chest and back. When he informed his in-laws that he will go to the hospital, his wife Afreen, mother-in-law Maimuna, father-in-law Hussain and neighbour Latif, did not allow him to go out and locked him inside a room in the house. Afreen also threatened to kill Asif. On September 18, Jamat, a resident of Ullal also called Asif and threatened to kill him if he files a police complaint.
A case in this regard is filed in Kaup police station.
