Kaup: Notorious bike thief facing several cases arrested

Kaup, Sep 21: Kaup police arrested notorious bike thief Sooraj Kotian (31), a resident of Muloor, who allegedly stole a bike that was parked near Kaup Residency.

Shah Rukh Hassan of Uttar Pradesh origin, who runs a saloon at Small World building at Kaup, had parked his bike near Kaup Residency in the night on September 7. On September 8 in the morning, the bike was reportedly missing. The bike belonged to Anup and a case was filed in Kaup police station.

Police recovered the bike that was hidden in a bush near crematorium of Koppalangadi on September 9. As the bike was found nearby, police suspected the involvement of a local hand in the theft.

Kaup SI Abdul Khader, crime SI Purushottam, Narayana and Ramu took into custody known criminal and bike thief Sooraj and on interrogation he confessed to the theft. Sooraj said that he had left the bike near the crematorium of Koppalangadi as the petrol in the bike got over.

Sooraj Kotian has several cases of bike theft and dacoity registered against him at Kaup, Udupi, Konaje, Kankanady and Panambur police stations.
