Kundapur, Sep 21: Nursi is an elderly woman living in a thatched house. Both she and her husband cannot even walk properly. They live in Matyadi village in the taluk.
Along with abject poverty, the couple suffers from age-related illness. During the Covid lockdown in 2020, while distributing ration kit, a group of WhatsApp friends came across the couple and now they have built a new home for them.
The dream nursed by Kundapur Friends WhatsApp group admin Dinesh Puthran and his friend Nagesh Navada was realized finally on Wednesday September 20 when a small house built at a cost of Rs 1.5 lac was handed over the elderly couple.
Dinesh Puthran and friends put in efforts to find sponsors to build a house for the couple. They even applied to prestigious companies. Then, along with their friend Ravi Mogaveera, they tried to obtain some facility from the government, but failed miserably.
At last, the Kundapur Friends WhatsApp group and their families, with the help of Jaycee Kundapur city and Rotary Kundapur Sunrise members build a small beautiful house for the couple.
Dinesh Puthran Vitalwadi took the complete responsibility of the home while Ravi Mogaveera overlooked the construction work. On Wednesday, a happy Nursi and her husband Ananta inaugurated the house.
Nagesh Navada, Hussain Hykadi, Dr Soni D’Costa and Reshma Kotian were present.
