M'lore: Billavara Balaga, Abu Dhabi Awards Scholarships to 35 Students in City

Mangalore, Aug 16: Billavara Balaga, Abu Dhabi, an association of Billavas in Abu Dhabi which has been active for 17 years now, distributed scholarships to 35 students for their academic achievements and assisting them further in their studies. The programme was organised at Town Hall here on Tuesday August 16.
Addressing the gathering, president of Association Raj Kumar said that life is tough for people from coastal districts who migrate to the Gulf countries in search of greener pastures. They find it hard to settle down, and at the same time keep their families back home happy.
In such a scenario, recongnising student achievers in their native places and helping them in whatever way possible gives immense satisfaction, he said.
On the occasion, a sum of Rs 20,000 was also given to a poor unhealthy boy’s medical treatment.
Manohar Thonse, Satish Venkataramana, Jagannath Anchan, Pradeep Kirodian, K P Manjunath Sagar of Hrudayavani, Daya Kirodian, K Vaman of Athmashakti, Shivananda Karkera among others were present. Jagadeesh Shivapura led the prayer.
After the programme 'Kala Kambula' a Tulu comedy drama was performed by the artistes of renowned Tulu drama troupe 'Cha Parka', much to the delight of the audience.
