Bantwal Taluk Panchayat Former President Shoots Himself

Mangalore, Aug 17: In a shocking incident, former president of Bantwal taluk panchayat Chandrahas Shetty Bolanthoor reportedly shot himself in the head with a revolver at his residence in Bolanthoor, in Kalladka of Bantwal taluk here on Wednesday August 17.
When his brother saw him lying with severe bleeding at home, he at once arranged to take him to a hospital in the city. Another person accompanied him in the ambulance.
As per police sources, a suicide note was found at the spot in which he mentioned that he wanted to get rid of his chronic intestine pain. Bantwal circle inspector Vivekananda, Vitla Police sub inspector Rakshith Gowda and staff conducted a spot inspection.
He has been admitted in a private hospital here.
Shetty is known to be a simple and soft spoken person. One source said that the 49-year-old Shetty had financial problems while another said that he was suffering from acute insomnia.
Congress leaders including MLA Ramanath Rai and Bondala Jagannath Shetty rushed to the hospital.
He served as the president of Bantwal taluk panchayat two years ago, and currently is an entrepreneur running a ‘Preethi’ Beedi factory in his native. He is also the trustee of Annapoorneshwari temple, B C Road and the former president of Lions Club Bantwal.
