Madhya Pradesh shows solidarity with Anna - in style

Bhopal, Aug 17 (IANS) From climbing atop towers to wearing black uniforms to tying locks to their legs -- people in Madhya Pradesh took to some intriguing forms of protests to show solidarity with activist Anna Hazare and his demand for a strong Lokpal Bill.

In Gwalior, three Anna supporters climbed atop floodlight towers of Roop Singh Stadium. The three men, carrying the national flag, climbed the towers at around 9 a.m. and got down only after six hours.

"We reached the top so that our voice could reach far away," Manish, one of the protestors, told IANS.

While some youngsters in Bina tied locks to their legs to show that despite being a free country, people are not free, students in a private college in Indore wore black uniforms to register their protest over Hazare's arrest Tuesday.

Some Bharatiya janata Party (BJP) activists staged sit-ins in the state capital. In Jabalpur, the chamber of commerce organised demonstrations.

Hazare was jailed Tuesday ahead of his fast for an effective anti-corruption law.

The Delhi Police action led to protests across the country. The government later released Hazare but he refused to move out of the jail until he was allowed to carry on his hunger-strike without any conditions.
