Kasargod: School bus driver arrested by police in Pallathadka road mishap

Kasargod, Sep 27: The Badiyadka police have arrested the driver of a school bus and seized the bus as well. The accused arrested is John D'Souza (56) alias Jerry, a resident of Kuntikan.

The police arrested the accused involving him in which the bus hit an auto killing five persons in Pallathadka.

The incident had taken place on September 25. The school bus, belonging to an English medium school Manya, was en route from Perla when it collided with the auto rickshaw based in Mogral Puttur.

The auto which was involved in the accident belonged to A H Abdul Rauf, a resident of Mogral's Thayalangadi who had bought the vehicle just four months ago.

    So sad.Five lives are gone.I cant understand how can a accident happen with head on both vehicles on the same side?One must have been on wrong side.Who was on wrong side.If bus driver was driving fast and wrong side?It should be prooved ,not simply arrest someone who caused death .May the souls of innocent s,rest in peace.

    In order to kill all five in the auto definitely the bus must have been at great speed... School buses must have speed governors as I am seeing such vehicles carelessly speeding in the roads of Udupi... Punishment must be severe and if involved in fatal accident such a driver must be banned from driving for life time... Only then sense of fear will make life easier for other road users...
