Mangaluru, Sep 27: Local fishermen in Someshwara Uchila made an impressive catch today when they hauled in a massive ray fish weighing 75 kg during their evening fishing expedition.

This impressive catch was a result of the collective efforts of Uchila Peribail residents Shailesh Uchila, Chandra Uchila, Azeez, Kalpesh, and Shambhu New Uchila, who cast their net from a country boat. They mentioned that this was the largest ray fish they had captured this year.

The sea at Someshwara Uchila often presents waves reminiscent of sludge, a common occurrence every year, making it a favored fishing spot for locals. It is known for its diverse fish varieties.

The discovery of this large ray fish has significantly boosted the enthusiasm of the local fishermen.

The ray fish could have potentially sold for Rs 200 per kilogram, but in the spirit of the Eid festival, the fishermen decided against commercializing their catch and opted to share it among themselves instead.

Nice gesture by the fishermen, not selling. Sharing the fish with friends.

Not a big achievement.Free floating Gillnets and plastics are causing large scale damage to the marine flora and fauna , government should frame some policies to control this menace .

Big sized ray fish are not as tasty as 1.5 to 2 Kgs weighing Kori thorake... If cartilages grow into tough bones the fish looses appeal to a person who knows the real taste of kori thorake... Kori thorake is very good for people with calcium deficiency...
