Mangaluru: Coast Guard rescues 10 fishermen stuck in deep sea

Mangaluru, Sep 29: Indian Coast Guard force rescued 10 fishermen who were stuck in deep sea area that falls under the limits of the taluk.

The operation was carried out in coordination with the fisheries department. The rescued fishermen had gone for fishing on Tirchendur Murugan boat on September 20. However, on September 24 their boat developed engine shaft problem at 39 nautical miles from the city beach.

Coast Guard coordination centre of Mumbai received the distress call from the boat. It was relayed to coastal rescue force of Dakshina Kannada on Thursday. Responding immediately, Indian Coast Guard acted and sent C-448 and C-446 coast guard vessels to the spot in mid sea. These ships which have reformed navigation and towing capabilities monitored the retrieving process of Tiruchendur Murugan boat.
