Sea erosion is on the rise at the estuary that connects Talapady and Uchila Endpoint. Houses under the limits of Talapady are also facing danger as sea erosion has taken away parts of bank of Talapady river.
House belonging to local resident Dayavati is on the verge of getting washed away into the sea. No temporary rock filling work is done in this area till now. The road got washed away two years ago when there was sea erosion at Ucchila Battappady. Now Uchila Endpoint road is also damaged.
More than 200 houses are facing danger on Talapady area on the other side of the river. As the district administration is not responding to the sea erosion woes of Ucchila, locals are using an excavator machine to stack sand bags to prevent the force of waves.
