10 More Killed in Karachi Violence, Toll Now 59


Islamabad, Aug 19 (IANS): Ten more people were killed in overnight shootings and other crimes in Karachi, bringing the number of fatalities from the past three days of violence in the city to 59.

At least 36 people were killed in shootings and other violent crimes in Karachi Thursday, Geo TV reported.

The crimes took place in the Lyari, Baldia town, Pak Colony and Manghopir areas of the city.

Two bodies were found in a gunny bag near the Gulbahar area of Karachi, while three bullet-riddled bodies were found in Bakraperi and Kharadar Jamatkhana areas of the city.

According to police, a written message was found in the bags with bodies inscribed "Peace or war or more bodies".

Thursday's violence followed the killing of Pakistan Peoples Party's former lawmaker Ahmed Karimdad in Karachi Wednesday. Fifteen others were also killed the same day.
