Mangaluru, Oct 1: The mortal remains of an unidentified person found on Friday on the banks of the river Nandini near Pavanje Sri Mahalingeshwara Mahaganapathi Temple has been identified as Sumanth (19), son of Sundar Kunder, a resident of 10th Thokooru in Mulki station limits.
Sumanth had gone missing since September 15. However, on September 24 in the evening, his clothes, mobile phone handset and slippers were found near the Chelyaru dam near Haleyangadi.
His mortal remains that were found on Friday were in a decomposed state as a result of which his identity had caused considerable confusion.
Sumanth's mortal remains were sent for an autopsy to the Wenlock Hospital. He was identified by the clothes that he had worn and his bona fides were confirmed.
The autopsy was conducted on Saturday and his mortal remains were later handed over to his parents.
