Udupi: Splendid Confluence of 15 Nations Turns MIT into Global Village

Udupi, Aug 20: The Food Court of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) here became an epitome of the modern-day globalised society with over 800 students showcasing a variety of cuisine, clothing, jewellery, language translations, music and more from 15 different countries.
The event was ‘Global Village’ conducted by AIESEC, Manipal University on the theme 'Travel the world in 80 minutes' held recently.
Students from various countries also performed their native music and dance which were thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd.
The event boasted of cultural representation with over 22 internationals from 15 countries including China, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Oman, Brazil, Egypt, Philippines, Malaysia, Italy, Kenya among others.
Ramit Singal, a third year student from MIT says “Global village was a truly diverse event! I was amazed at the performances of so many countries under a single roof and I’m glad I celebrated the Indian Independence with so many internationals.”

AIESEC Manipal University is currently conducting social projects around the issues of environmental awareness, cultural diversity, child rights, HIV/AIDS and cancer awareness among the youth. International trainees are currently in Manipal to work on these social projects and help create an impact in the local area.
