Bantwal: Truck carrying marble slabs crashes into building - One dead, three seriously injured

Bantwal, Oct 5: A truck carrying marble slabs lost control on downward slope and crashed into a building killing one and seriously injuring three at Odiyoor of Karopadi village near Vittal on Wednesday October 4.

The deceased is identified as Shubhachandra Ghatavar (60), a labourer of Bihar origin. Pavan of Bihar origin, Adam of Kalladka and his son Arshad are admitted to hospital with grievous injuries.

The truck was carrying marble slabs from Bengaluru to a school near Vittal. As the truck was approaching the school, the driver lost control on the downward sleep slope and crashed onto a building that was at the end of the slope.

The wall of the building is also badly damaged. The marbles loaded behind slipped into the cabin of the driver and mangled it completely. The impact of the crash was so severe that marble was strewn in powder form for more than 100 meter area. Among the injured one has received severe injury on the waist while the other two have received serious injuries on their legs.

Vittal police have registered a case in this regard.
