Mangaluru, Oct 5: Several commuters had a lucky escape after a lorry uprooted an electric post at Thumbe on Thursday October 5 morning.

A likely disaster was looming as the wires from the electric post on the wayside got stuck to some material on the cargo section of the lorry which was on its way to HPCL from Bengaluru. Unaware of this, its driver continued to drive and the electric post came off. Simultaneously, the electric wires fell on the road.

The traffic was interrupted for over 20 minutes. Mescom officials rushed to the spot and cleared the power lines. A major tragedy was averted.

    O my God.Is there no limit for loading a lorry?Height and weight not controlling before you start?Simply start and go and one has to pay for life if quick reaction from other side is not there.I really sa Thank God no ife threat to anyone.First of all electric wires are too very low almost hanging.Had luck.Next time please be careful .luck doesnt avail all the time.

    It's the duty of the Traffic Police to check the load of every high raise vehicles. Not just sitting in control room.. On highway and other places they must install" " to check the hights by " Kamans". This is pure negligence of traffic Police department .
