Udupi, Aug 20:
Chief minister Sadananda Gowda on his first visit to Udupi district on Saturday August 20 after taking over the reigns of the state, made it clear that clean and transparent politics was his motto.

He was given a grand welcome at the district border, Hejamady, by SPs of the twin districts, Udupi DC, All BJP MLAs of Udupi districts, party leaders and his fans and followers who came in large numbers.

After being felicitated by the district BJP at Shamili Hall, Gowda said he would not bother about any pressure and expressed confidence in leading the state towards the set goals. He said that he would try to implement a few of the ideals of former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee.

Internal issues of the party and open challenges from outside will be tackled, and the path shown by Yeddyurappa in developmental works will be followed, he said.

The CM also recalled the days of Jana Sangha when he used to paste wall posters during his high school, and said he never dreamt of becoming the CM, and was lucky to be in the post now to serve the people.

District president Uday Kumar Shetty welcomed. MLA Raghupathi Bhat delivered the vote of thanks. Third Finance Commission president A G Kodgi, minister V S Acharya, Yuva Morcha president Sunil Kumar, among others were present.

Earlier the CM inaugurated Ajjarkad Indoor stadium, laid foundation stone for swimming pool near Ajjarkad, installed Madhwacharya's statue in Malpe and launched the third phase of work on Malpe port.

At Mangalore Bajpe Airport

"Not one person named in the Lokayukta mining report will be spared or shielded," Gowda said soon after landing at the Bajpe airport in Mangalore.

He said that during his tenure there will not be any backdoor politics, and assured of transparency in all dealings of the government and its officials. About CAC report he said he will hold a meeting with the chief secretary, the principal secretary, and other department officers on Tuesday. Action will be taken after scrutinising the Supreme Court judgement on it, he said.

Already, revision work on the progress of 20 departments has been initiated and work will be accelerated, he added.

To a query on power hike, the CM said it was inevitable, but the percentage of hike would be known only after a study by the ministry of power. He declined to reply on the question of cabinet expansion.

Ministers V S Acharya, Krishna J Palemar, Anand Asnotikar, SP Laburam, IGP Alok Mohan, Police Commissioner Seemath Kumar Singh among others were present.

Pickpockets have a field day

Police failed to control the situation when the celebration surrounding the CM's visit reached its peak. Pickpockets were plenty, and a few people became their prey. A doctor from Padubidri, Dr Y N Shetty, lost his wallet and with it Rs 8000, while Ravi Shetty of Mulki lost Rs 2000, an ATM card, PAN card and other personal documents. Hejamady gram panchayat member Pranesh lost Rs 2500, an ATM card, and other documents which were in his wallet.

A Mahila Morcha member who performed 'aarti' and was rewarded with Rs 500 also fell victim to the pickpockets.

Mr. C.M. you will certainly look clean if you do not practice double standards of BJP/RSS.

Also do not interfere with law following its own course against corrupt BSY and Reddy brothers !

    Mind Without Fear:
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
    Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action-
Into that heaven of freedom, Mr. Sadananda, let our state awake.

"NOT ONE PERSON NAMED IN THE LOKAYUKTA MINING REPORT WILL BE SPARED OR SHIELDED"

Best quote from CM, DVS and we hope for commitment in the issue. But one doubt, this Quote of the Quote is addressed to EDDY-REDDY,SOMA,OR CONG LEADERS????I hope CM has guts to apply his own quote in coming days. After assuming CM's chair,DVS need to look in to the serious business rather than wasting time like these HAARA-TURAIS......Certainly DVS has herculean task to over come experienced oppn parties one hand and the more important side is challenge with in......

Clean politics is still possible. This is the right time to prove that motto. People are fed up with dirty politics and blame game.
