Telugu Superstar Chiranjeevi Joins Congress, Calls Rahul Future PM

Daijiworld Media Network

New Delhi, Aug 20: Popular Telugu matinee idol Chiranjeevi who floated his own political party Praja Rajyam Party to contest the Andhra Pradesh state assembly in 2008 formally joined Congress party on Saturday, August 20 in the presence of the face of Congress party and general secretary Rahul Gandhi, health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Jaipal Reddy and hundreds of supporters.

Soon after joining the national party, he said, "Only Congress is the hope of future. Rahul Gandhi is a ray of hope for the poor, he is our future Prime Minister."

He pledged his support to Congress promising, "I will remain loyal to Congress for the rest of my life, come what may."

Chiranjeev, the most admired regional actor among the Telugu speaking community worldwide is new to polical circles but his party won 18 of the 294 seats in the AP assembly during 2008 elections. Though the party has negligible presence in Telangana, it is thorn in the bush for the Congress party owing to the demands from the Telangana people for a separate statehood. But his party is reportedly strong in Rayalaseema regions of Andhra Pradesh.

It may be recalled that a few months back Chiranjeevi had merged his party PRP with Congress, but today he formally joined Congress by registering himself for a primary membership of the party.

"Congress chief Sonia Gandhi has a lot of respect and affection for me, I want to strengthen her stand. I was supposed to join the party in her presence on August 10, but unfortunately her ill health has taken her to the USA. I really miss her today, I consider myself not so lucky as she is absent on this important day. This is one of the most important decisions I have ever taken," said Chiranjeevi.

The Congress party feels that the Telugu superstar's entry into the party will strengthen its base in South India.

Dear Mr. ISMAIL.K.PERINJE, there is nothing any appeal..Chiru knows the his future in Cong. No strong state leaders he want to become CM in near future. Selfish all for them self and not for public welfare. Final truth all politicians are selfish no one is fighting for nations betterment.

Everyone knows that Mr. Chiru is failure in Andhra Pradesh his Praja Rajam party won only 18 seats out of 294 he contested, lost all the Lok sabha seat they contested, most of the candidates lost their deposit, he might be a popular actor, but not a popular plitician, he will not strengthen the party as his opponents Telugu Dessam & Jagan Mohan's YSR congress are much stronger, so sorry Chiru, you might win a lok sabha seat and become a minister in UPA Govt if they come to power in next general election, but chances of them coming to power are very poor, with so much corruption and mishandling of Anna Hazare issue will badly effect their chances, sorry Rahual, you are no PM material, leave that to Dr. Manmohan Singh, you are just new kid on the block, Congress please look for able and dedicated congress worker as party leader, stop this nonsense of only PM should be from Gandhi family.

There comes another boot-licker of nehru dynasty. From now onwards whatever he does or says is for pleasing of Nehru family only. He has betrayed the hopes of Andhraites. During elections he told people that he is going to oppose both Congi and BJP. I wonder with what face he will go to his voters now?

Aren't there anybody else to take over the reigns of Congress? An unmarried, half- Italian, mega-billionaire by birth should NOT have the birthright to inherit the most coveted job in the Congress party. There are many able and young politicians in the Congress Party who could take over.

We do not want dynastic politics in India. Dynastic right of rule only works in an Indian business environment - where the son takes over the father's business enterprise, and politics should NOt be turned into a business enterprise - because politics is not a business even though our politicians join a party only for making hoardes of illegal money!

Thanks a lot Mr. Chiranjeevi for joining congress against the wills and wishes of the poeple of the state of Andhra Pradesh. We thought you were opponent of the Congress party which was responsible for the backwardness of our state for 35 years. We are very grateful to Mr. NTR and Mr. Chandrababu Naidu for the initiates that they had taken due which Hyderabad has got Basic Infrastructure. God only know future of India given that Rahul GANDHI becomes the prime minister.
