Mangaluru, Oct 6: The Mangaluru CCB police have arrested a man who was making fake documents and selling them to the public for money.
Running an organisation named "Help Line Mangalore" in a room on the ground floor of Vishwas Crown Apartment on Kankanady-Pumpwell Road, Mangaluru, they used to create fake documents like Aadhaar cards, ration cards, number certificates, birth certificates, etc.
On receiving information about cheating the public and the government by using other documents and believing them to be genuine documents, the Mangaluru CCB Police raided the apartment where fake documents were being created.
Bernard Roshan Mescarenus (41), a resident of Rutuvilla, near Infant Mary Church, Bajjodi, Bikarnakatte in city is the accused.
He was arrested and fake Aadhaar cards, fake ration cards, fake business licenses, fake SSLC marksheets, fake birth certificates prepared by him in different names were taken into custody.
Those who obtained fake documents from him during the last three years used them to get loan facilities from banks and various government agencies involving lacs of rupees expenditure to the government coffers and by using the facilities of the departments.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the government and the public have been cheated.
Laptop, colour printer, laminator machine, biometric devices used for making fake certificates were seized from the accused.
A case has been registered in this regard at Mangaluru Cen police station. Many more people are involved in this fake document making network and the search to find them is on.
The investigation of this case has been carried out by the officers and staff of the CCB unit under the guidance of Anupam Agarwal, city commissioner of police.
