Mangaluru: Bus conductor abuses woman passenger, complaint filed

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Oct 10: A case is filed in Kadri police station of the city in which it is alleged that a bus conductor verbally abused a woman passenger on the bus.

Lawyer K Mufeeda Rehman, a resident of Jalalbagh near Deralakatte, in her complaint alleged that the bus driver moved the bus while she was boarding on Monday. As she was about to fall, she screamed. But the bus driver did not stop the bus. In the meantime, the bus conductor caught hold of her hand and pulled her into the bus.

Once Mufeeda was inside the bus, he abused her saying why she cannot board the bus faster and if she wants to die falling from the vehicle. When Mufeeda retaliated to his speech, he kept on abusing her till she got down from the bus and insulted her in front of other passengers.

The complaint is filed against both the driver and conductor of the said bus.

It's the fault of the driver to start with. Both of them should charged for negligence and give them severe punishment so that others will not make the same mistake. This kind of carelessness on the part of the driver and conductor is happening day in. and day out.

Bus lobby is evident drivers are reckless, I saw yesterday a senior citizen in activa was about to lose balance and fall due to aggressive driving of the bus driver, if commissioner puts some restrictions like having doors are driving in limits he will be transferred because the bus owners association has strong backing as they send enough to the politicians

I fully support the Passenger in this case, as this unprofessional attitude and behaviour of both the Drivers and Conductors of private bus operators in Udupi and in Mangalore can be vouched by me and as well by all those who use these private buses. Frankly speaking they are not regulated by law or any other authority, that only talk big when an incident takes place, like the fall of a Bus Conductor from a moving bus in Kadri Mangalore! Thereafter, why should they care, they never travel by the private buses anyway! Most Bus Conductors only know on one word "BEGA, BEGA, BEGA," whether one is boarding or debaoarding, whether one is old or very young, whether one is a handicapped of a Special Needs person, as they are constantly in a hurry even whilst driving. These Bus Drivers over speed or honk like crazy of overtake like crazy, with absolute no regard for passengers in the bus. I am speaking with years of bad experience of using the private buses as there is absolutely no other alternatives. KSRTC buses have now been allowed to ply locally, but the staff of KSRTC, mostly from North Karnataka, labour class, prefer to take the buses empty and get KSRTC huge losses so that automatically KSRTC will shut down citing losses. How I wish there was a central Management for these private buses and some coaching classes for these Bus drivers and conductors.

First the driver takes off rapidly when the passenger is still on the stairs of the bus without even thinking twice . Secondly the conductor is not vigilant as its his responsibility to to let the driver no when the bus as to leave once the passenger safely boards the bus. And after saving the lady who was about to fall down he verbally abuses her thinking that he has all the wisdom and rights to correct the people who is he to talk to the public in such unacceptable manner . Even they were about t kill a passenger due to their negligence . these people will only learn their lesson when heavy punishments are imposed on them for life . not even 1% of mercy should be shown on then for any reason

And these mafias very well know that Mangalorean people are sleepy, dumb founded, wearing bangles (literally) in their hands and not able to confront them - even speech wise. Mangalorean people don't have the jigar to counter attack, resist the crony attitudes of bus operators and put up a fight. They are losers in the first round arguing.

Not this all city/service/ express bus staff have the same culture. Old habits never die. This bus company caught for wrong reasons even school kids being killed by the same bus company a few years back at K. S. Rao road, this is only one of the crimes by this operator. The RTO, Traffic police all hand in glove. The state Government should abolish the private bus mafia and introduce KSRTC buses. Then Mangalore would be a better place to live.

Dear Madam Mufeeda. I must congratulate you on taking the initiative to confront the conductor. These guys dont understand they are in the service industry and their food ration is going home due to the passengers who travel with them. They should show basic courtesy especially toward a womans modesty. Alas, no one including the govt or the city corporation will do anything about it. Who knows this is going to be a good start.

Some private bus operators can be rated as third class notorious gangster mentality. No decency, no decorum, junglee culture in an uncultured UNSMART Mangalore. The Corporation should impart training to controversial characters (conductors and drivers alike) and teach them some ethics how to tactfully speak with passengers and be patient too.

Bus drivers drive very speed & rashly in crowded places & junctions. It's very dangerous. And Conductors have bad behaviour. They are always rude. Even passengers pay and travel there is no respect for them. Traffic police will not take any action

These rogue private bus drivers and conductors of Mangalore and Udupi need to be disciplined and Jailed for their excesses. It is very strange that inspite of so many complaints from the Public the RTO and Police continue to allow them to continue without any action !!!!!!! Why is the question? People should insist on government buses like Mumbai and Bangalore.

This private bus and route no is very notorious for all wrong reasons:rash and negligent driving, violation of every traffic rule ,causing inconvenience to road users.this time they are caught on the wrong foot as the lady involved is an advocate. if you pry into information of earlier wrong doings then facts will be clear

I respect her. It is absolutely true the behaviour of bus driver and conductors in DK and Udupi areas are dangerous. The police authorities should take a class by taking them behind lock up for six months . People should stop traveling on such buses whose driver/conductor behave harshly by teaching them a lesson.
