Bengaluru, Oct 10: Barring green firecrackers, no other fireworks will be permitted during Deepavali as per the Supreme Court’s orders.

This has been clarified by the chief minister’s office (CMO) following reports in a section of the media that sale of firecrackers during the festival of lights, Deepavali, will be banned following the recent fire tragedy at Attibele godown of firecrackers.

However, permission for bursting fireworks during weddings and other social, religious and political events will also remain prohibited as the Supreme Court has held that only green fireworks can be allowed.
