Mangalore, Aug 23: It poured cats and dogs, but for the crowd gathered at Kadri Ground here on Monday August 22, it mattered little. They danced, cheered and clapped as song after song, dance after dance kept them in a jubilant spirit.

The occasion was Star Nite, the sixth annual celebrations of Kadri Cricketers. It was no ordinary celebration, but a full-fledged musical extravaganza that made Janmashtami festivities even more memorable.

The event was graced by state BJP chief secretary C T Ravi, state assembly speaker Yogish Bhat, former MP Vinaykumar Sorake, Suresh Ballal, Nagaraj Shetty and Manipal Media Network vice-president Anand.

Addressing the gathering, C T Ravi appreciated the efforts of Kadri Cricketers and wished them well, apart from conveying Janmashtami wishes to everyone present.

Four young achievers were honoured on the occasion - Nakul Abhyankar, Aishwarya Majumdar, Arjun Janya and Vijay Prakash. While Nakul and Aishwarya won the Kadri Young Achievers Award - 2011, Arjun Janya was presented with the Kadri Best Music Director Award - 2011 and Vijay Prakash the Kadri Best Singer Award-2011.

The crowd broke into a loud applause when Sandalwood actress Ragini Dwivedi took the stage and had them swaying to her moves. She thanked the crowd for supporting the show despite the rains, and for appreciating her movie Kempe Gowda.

The entire evening was filled to the brim with scintillating performances by the four award winners, and by groups like Ocean Kids and others, which kept the crowd energised late into the night. A spectrum of colours adorned the stage with each performance, and the rains only added to the charm and aura of the evening.

Vijay Prakash, known for rendering his voice to 'Jai Ho' song by A R Rahman, sang a few lines and spoke in Tulu, much to the delight of the spectators.

Towards the end, Aishwarya once again set the stage on fire with some Hindi numbers like Zubi Dubi and Sheela Ki Jawani.

VJs Vishwas and Anushree made sure there was never a dull moment with their peppy compering.

Thirty seconds of silence was observed at the start of the show to express solidarity with civil society activist Anna Hazare and the ongoing anti-corruption movement.

I agree with Arman. Only skin show, nothing else. Only because of the blessings of these BJP leader Kadri Cricketers could hold and Bajarangis can enjoy the programme.

Thank God all BJP leaders (TOP LEADERS MORAL POLICEERS) were present at the event otherwise definitely Bajrangis might have attached the shop saying it’s against so called tradition of India.
