Siddaramaiah attacks PM Modi over India’s ranking in global hunger index

Bengaluru, Oct 13 (IANS): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday attacked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi over India’s ranking in global hunger index.

India has ranked 111 among 125 countries in the Global Hunger Index report released by two European agencies on October 12. India slipped four positions as compared to last year.

Taking to social media, Siddaramaiah said, “It is disheartening to see India performing worse than Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sudan, Nigeria, Congo and other underdeveloped nations.

“This is a clear indication of rich getting richer and poor getting poorer under Prime Minister Narendra Modi government.

“It is time to recollect PM Modi's popular slogan 'na khaaunga, na khaane doonga' slogan. Nobody thought it meant that he will make people starve. Modi government even denied rice to implement Anna Bhagya 2.0 in Karnataka.”

He said that the Global Hunger Index (GHI) report 2014 had a separate section on the reasons for India's improved GHI score under UPA government. It highlighted the role of improved and expanded ICDS programme launch of National Rural Health Mission, MNREGA, reforms in PDS and right to Food Act.

"The few more sad facts of latest GHI report are; India ranks worst in the list of countries in terms of Child Wasting Rate; India ranks 5th worst country in the prevalence of anemia in woman aged 15-24 years. Undernourishment has worsened since the BJP came to power in 2014," he said.

This marvelous achievement is only possible under the leadership of Modi. Busing in giving all governments properties to his friend who has only employed 23,000/- people, i think Mangalore fish market has more. How in First Eight Years of Modi Government, Nearly Rs 12 Lakh Crore ‘Disappeared' lets count how many zeros. The base corporate tax for existing companies was reduced to 22% from 30%, while for new manufacturing firms it was cut to 15% from 25%. And middle class has to pay Tax on petrol + exercise duty + Road tax + Toll Tax. LPG increased from 450 to 1200. And they are fooled on by religious sentiments. Fools forgot theirs basic things

Siddaramiah is a much capable leader than Modi anytime. He should start attacking Modi on every front and put him on defensive. Modi did the same to Manmohan Singh even though he was a genuine, quite and concerned PM for the poor. Modi simply barks with hidden agenda to help his friends corner the national wealth in exchange for donations to his party to fight elections. A country of 1.4 Billion cannot afford to se the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

The apparent malnourishment of many Indians is often attributed to the influence of vegetarianism. However, adopting a well-balanced Keto diet can contribute to both physical and mental well-being of many Indian citizens .

Palestinians in gaza and other areas look better fed than many in india -- when we drive into hinterlands of india -- This is the sad fact -- what is important is also nutrition -- stomach maybe full but filled with junk food -- or suppressing hunger by eating roots / other unhygienic items Zarda -- etc etc -- -- What is all important -- vitamins -- carbs -- certain minerals - fats- good drinking water - good diet missing -- which is what GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX means -- not merely/ necessarily starving ----- (Today india -- pak match --- many are landing in private jets to watch in NAMO stadium -- this is the wealth disparity -- jets running costing in lakhs --an hour or more---- many among these who are defaulters to banks --)-- suit boot ki sarkar--

Very sad, one side, number of people affected by hunger and starvation is growing, other side number of super rich are growing. It means gap of rich and poor is growing. Its very bad and sad development. In reality when number of super rich growing, people suffering in hunger and starvation should reduce. Can a mother(country) be happy to see, within a family some growing super rich and some are starving? Will such rich have her blessing? She will only be happy if there's no hunger and starvation, difference in wealth is understandable.

Raj you are a blind follower of the BJP. Don't you understand this has been a year of drought. How can anyone supply all the electricity the state needs? Look at the facts and talk. Anyway now thereis no 40% commission. At least be happy about that and many other welfare schemes of the present government. We should be fair and balanced in our judgements.

Raj, actually you and any BJP supporters have no moral right to even talk about power. MMS put his government in the line to get the civilian nuclear treaty and the BJP joined hands with CPM (they did when Rajiv introduced computers in the public sector as well) to oppose it. That nuclear deal of that time is the reason you see less and less power cut. Did you knew anything about it?
