Rajasthan, Oct 15: Affectionately known as "Lady Singham," Preeti Chandra's remarkable journey from studying in a government school to becoming an IPS officer serves as an inspiration to all.

Preeti was born in Kundan village, Rajasthan, in 1979. She currently serves as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bikaner, making her the first female SP in the district's history.

Preeti completed her primary education in a government school and later earned her post-graduate degree from Maharani College in Jaipur. Without any formal coaching, she prepared for the UPSC exam in 2008 and impressively secured the 255th rank on her first attempt.

Following her UPSC success, Preeti was appointed as the Senior Superintendent of Police in Alwar district, Rajasthan. She later served as SP in Bundi and at the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) unit in Kota. She also held the position of SP in Karauli and currently serves as SP in Bikaner.

Preeti earned recognition for her relentless efforts in persuading dacoits to surrender during her tenure as SP in Karauli. She also brought numerous fugitive criminals to justice. Her fearlessness led her to venture into the notorious Chambal Valley to combat criminal activities by dacoits residing there. Preeti's commitment to public safety extended to her role as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) at the Jaipur Metro Corporation.

During her tenure as SP in Bundi, Preeti undertook a courageous mission to rescue numerous minor girls from the clutches of a dangerous human trafficking and prostitution ring. This daring act catapulted her to immense popularity among the public, and she has been affectionately referred to as "Lady Singham" ever since.
