Jharkhand cabinet approves right to service act


Ranchi, Aug 23 (IANS) The Jharkhand cabinet Tuesday approved a bill fixing a time frame for official work and will introduce it in the assembly's upcoming monsoon session.

"The cabinet meeting Tuesday approved right to services act. The bill will be introduced in the monsoon session," Cabinet Secretary Aditya Swaroop told reporters. The monsoon session begins Aug 26.

Chief Minister Arjun Munda had on Independence Day (Aug 15) had announced that a right to services act would be enacted in the state. Under the act, the state government will fix the time frame of each work and officials will be made accountable for the work.

The state cabinet also approved a proposal to hike salary of legislators and ministers and it will also be introduced in the monsoon session.

In another key development, Munda cleared the file for dismissal of 40 engineers of road and construction department on corruption charges.
