Mangaluru: Imprisonment for donning Koraga costume during Dasara

Mangaluru, Oct 17: The acts of donning Koraga tribe costume, dancing in front of shops and homes, abusing the caste during Dasara and putting finger nails and hair in food and giving the same to women of Koraga community during Amavasya are prohibited.

Asking people of the Koraga community to check thorns and glass pieces in the fields used for Kambala on the previous day of the sport and using people of Koraga community for beating of drums and dancing during fairs, Kambala and other public functions is prohibited.

The press publication says that legal action will be taken against those who give partially eaten food to the women of the Koraga community during baby shower ceremonies.

    in the forgone times these Koraga community, Dalits, SC etc, suffered lot by way of distancing them from society and forced to a dirty job of collecting human waste and other inferior menial jobs. Wedding time they were allowed to collect left out/waste food. In spite of Govt. efforts to do away with such class/creed barriers, upper class people still treat them like salves and untouchables !

    This enactment should be considered as one of the very good reforms. & upliftment of the community..., also the Jokaras who taking sides with the community with a hidden intent to benefit politically must also be punished... who stage manage these kinds of events to bring defame to the govt of the day., JH Sidda RAMA-AYYAJI..,
