Mangaluru: Teenaged student from Nepal drowns in Chitrapur beach, 5 of her schoolmates rescued

Mangaluru, Oct 19: A devastating incident unfolded at Chitrapur Beach near Surathkal when a group of young students who had ventured into the water for a holiday recreation with one of them losing her life.

The victim, identified as Nisha, was a Nepali residing in Vittal.

In a dire turn of events, she and several other young students ventured into the water to play since it was a school holiday. Unfortunately, the strong currents in the water led to a life-threatening situation, causing them to get submerged.

Rescue efforts were swiftly launched by local fishermen and residents, ultimately managing to save five individuals, Diganth (15), Divyaraj (15), Tejas (14), Kirtan (16) and Ashmita (15). Tejas has been admitted to a private hospital while the condition of reamaining four is said to be stable.

Deceased Nisha and survivor Ashmita, both are natives of Nepal.

    feeling sad Actually I lost my first husband in sea that makes me sad. he was from kerala and got drowned in sea while holidaying. the memories though happened in 1998 is still fresh with me I request people to be careful in water bodies. Please do not venture into deep sea It is very dangerous. I feel sad at the loss of a young life
