Udupi, Oct 20: Two brothers left for heavenly abode within seven hours. Deaths of the brothers were due to natural causes and not sudden or due to shock.
Ananta Padmanabha Acharya (90), a retired general manager of IDBI and also employee of RBI and Udupi Srinivasa Acharya (88), a retired chief accountant of Maharashtra state government, are the ones who died on October 18 and 19. But the difference is only seven hours.
Ananta Padmanabha Acharya started his career in Corporation Bank Ranebennur and later joined the RBI. He later retired as the general manager of the IDBI and SIDBI. He was known to be a disciplinarian. After retirement, he was living in Rahul Nagar in Manipal. He was interested in agriculture and Carnatic music. He is survived by wife, son and daughter.
Srinivasa Acharya joined the central railway and later joined the civil services. He was an assistant accountant general in Mumbai and was the first deputy accountant general of Manipur. He also served in the industrial ministry in Delhi. He was the financial director of Karnataka Power Corporation and retired as the chief accountant general of Maharashtra government. After retirement, Srinivasa settled at Kunjibettu and was helping in the education of financially poor students, NGOs, environment conservation and organizations that take care of animals. He is survived by two sons and a daughter.
