Anna Fast: All-Party Meet Begins at PM's Residence

New Delhi, Aug 24 (IANS): An all-party meeting began at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence Wednesday to consider a new draft of the Lokpal bill so that Anna Hazare could be persuaded to break his nine-day fast.

Leaders of various political parties were seen entering the 7, Race Course Road residence of the prime minister for the meeting to build a political consensus over the Lokpal bill.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, the government's chief mediator, will introduce the new draft at the meeting, sources said.

Several points in the new draft were discussed at the talks between Law Minister Salman Khurshid and Team Anna members Prashant Bhushan, Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi.

Hazare, 74, has refused to give up his fast for a stronger Lokpal bill despite his deteriorating health.
