Muzaffarnagar: UPSC success story – Son of factory worker cracks IAS in spite of financial issues

Muzaffarnagar, Oct 22: Vishal Kumar secured 484th rank in the UPSC civil services examination of 2021 though his family was going through extreme financial crunch.

Hailing from a remote village of Muzaffarnagar of Bihar, Vishal’s father was a daily wage labourer. He died in 2008 after which the financial condition of the family went from bad to worse. His mother used to tend to goats and buffaloes for a living.

Vishal always remembered his father’s words that only education can make  him a complete man.

Vishal studied hard and got admitted to IIT Kanpur. After completion of his graduation following which he got hired by Reliance industries.  

Vishal’s teacher Gauri Shankar says that Vishal was dedicated right from his school days but he became even more serious and dedicated after his father’s demise. On the other end, Vishal is very grateful to his teacher Gauri Shankar, who inspired him throughout his student days.
