Gujarati folk at ‘Udupi Dandiya’ receives overwhelming response

Udupi, Oct 23: ‘Udupi Dandiya 2023’ organized by Udupi Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samithi, Kadiyali received an overwhelming response from the public with thousands of participants participating in the programme with real enthusiasm for Dandiya.

The event was held on Sunday October 22 herein MGM grounds. Sandhya S Kamath, of Abharan Jewellers along with Jayalakshmi V Hegde and Aparva R Hegde of Jayalakshmi silks inaugurated the event along with P Vasanth Bhat, president Ganeshotsava Samiti, K Raghavendra Kini, general secretary and M Vallabh Bhat, treasurer.

Hundreds of people cutting across all age groups joined hand- in-hand and performed Dandiya. People were so much involved in the event that they went on dancing for nearly five hours. Ladies wearing traditional Gujarati attire stole the show.

Rhythm Music Bannanje troupe accompanied with a live band.

A lucky draw was also organised as part of the celebrations.

Prizes were also distributed for the best male and female Dandiya performers, best outfit among men and women, best dancer below 10 years male and female, best couple dance, best group dance and other categories.

Ace anchor Chethan Shetty compered the programme.
