Yet Another Former DMK Minister Arrested in Lang-Grabbing Case

Chennai, Aug 25: The police have now arrested former DMK minister KN Nehru on Thursday August 25 for his alleged role in the pocketing of the land belong to a medico in Trichy city.

Nehru is alleged to have forced a doctor to sell his 13000 sq ft plot.

So far, after DMK was routed in assembly elections, over 400 DMK functionaries have been taken in to custody over lang-acquisition charges.

Former ministers like agriculture minister and close Karunanidhi aide Veerapandi Arumugam and handlooms minister NKKP Raja have also been arrested.

With complaints from over 8,000 people against the DMK functionaries at the Special Anti-Land Grabbing cells set up, the Jayalalitha government is trying hard to curb such cases and hand over the grabbed pieces of land back to the rightful owners.

Jayalalithaa addressed the on Wednesday August 24 saying that vast tracts of land, valued at Rs 415 crore collectively have already been handed over to the rightful owners.
