UAE, Oct 23: Emirates Konkans Kasargod, located in UAE, held its general meeting on October 22 and unanimously elected Laila D'Souza as its new president for the term 2023-2025. Previously, she served as the general secretary of the association.

Laila D'Souza hails from the Maniyampare parish in Kasargod district. She has been residing in the UAE with her family for the past 15 years. Apart from her involvement in art and cultural activities, Laila is a trained singer and classical dancer, having performed on various national and international stages. She has also demonstrated her leadership abilities in different native associations. After relocating to the UAE, she actively participated in EKKU during its initial stages.

The meeting commenced with an introductory speech by Santhosh Perla, the founder president of EKKU. He outlined the association's objectives and expressed his satisfaction with the collective efforts of various Presidents and Executive Committee members over different terms.

Rocky Kayyar, the outgoing President, expressed his gratitude to the executive body and association members for their cooperation during his tenure.
