Mumbai, Aug 23: Actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani had a fan-girl moment when she met iconic playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti on Saturday. Taking to Instagram, Irani posted two pictures from the meeting and penned a touching note celebrating the singer's legacy.
“A legend steeped in grace, a voice that has touched millions — soulful, serene, and timeless,” Irani wrote. She revealed she was left speechless when Krishnamurti approached her asking for a photo. “How do you react when the voice that has brought peace to your quietest moments and joy to your celebrations stands before you — smiling, radiant, and so full of warmth?” Irani said, calling the meeting “#memoriesforlife.”
Irani, who returned to television with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, also recently praised the craftsmanship behind both television and film. Highlighting the work of her show’s cinematographer Deepak Malvankar, she shared: “What you see on screen is an actor at work. What you feel—that’s Deepak Malvankar... the man in the shadows who lights up every frame.”
In a reflection on the universal power of storytelling, Irani drew parallels between her daily soap and Brad Pitt’s film F1, which she recommended earlier this month. “Strange, perhaps, to see a TV show mentioned in the same breath as an international blockbuster. But that’s the magic of craft—when it’s driven by love, scale doesn’t matter.”
Encouraging her followers to watch F1, she added: “Watch it if you love stories of the underdog, if you are a has-been that never was, if you like to see an unlikely winner carve victory from a loss. I’ve watched it twice.”
