Bengaluru, Oct 24: A study has proved that children are facing vision problems and some losing their eyesight because of overuse and addiction to smartphones.

These days several parents give mobile phones to children in order to make them calm down. However, this habit is causing issues in the eyesight of children.

The number of children suffering from eyesight in Karnataka is increasing day-by-day. In a survey conducted by the health and family welfare department, it has come to light that 1,70,000 children are suffering from weak eyesight in the state.

Some children are unable to read the letters written on the blackboard by the teachers. Others are not able to see things clearly that are near to them.

As per the survey, 39997 children are suffering from eye sight issues in Belagavi district, 13170 in Vijayapura district, 10193 under limits of BBMP, 6348 in Davanagere and 5667 in Bidar.
