Madhya Pradesh, Oct 20: The story of Manoj Sharma, who is an IPS officer is not less than any Hindi movie. He failed in all the subjects except Hindi in 12th grade. He attained just a third division in classes 9 and 10. However, with grit and determination, he became an IPS officer.
Manoj, who hails from Morena district in Madhya Pradesh, drove a tempo while studying to supplement the financial crunch. The house in which he lived, did not have a roof. He has also spent nights with beggars many times. Manoj worked as an office attender in a library in Delhi during which time he read biographies of many famous and successful people. He has also written a book named Twelfth Fail.
In his book, Manoj also mentions about his love towards a girl while studying in 12th grade. But he was so shy that he never revealed the same to the said girl. However, he finally told it to her after cracking the UPSC examination.
Sharma secured 121 rank all India in his fourth attempt at the UPSC and is an IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre of 2005.
