Flaws in Jan Lokpal Bill, Can't Get Passed: Advani

New Delhi, Aug 26 (IANS): Some provisions of the Jan Lokpal bill had inherent flaws and parliament would find it difficult to pass it in its present form, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani said Friday in a candid assessment of the document.

He, however, added that they would lend their support to any strong, anti-corruption legislation.

"I know what are the flaws in the provisions of the Jan Lokpal bill due to which it will not get passed. And this, I tried to explain to them (Team Anna) yesterday," Advani told a group of students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) who called on him.

"I also told (Finance Minister) Pranab (Mukherjee) and the government that look, these people are emotionally attached to the title 'Jan Lokpal Bill' so assure them whatever be the final shape of the Lokpal bill after amendments, do continue to call it the Jan Lokpal bill," he said at his residence.

"They (Mukherjee) said we will think about it," said the top BJP leader, adding that his party would support any legislation that was aimed at ending corruption.

"I am 100 percent in support of any law or legislation that aims at ending corruption," he said.

Taking the example of Gujarat, Advani also said that there would be no corruption if the senior leadership was clean and effective.

"Practically speaking, Gujarat does not have any Lokpal bill. But there is no corruption there. Because if the senior leadership is upright and clean, there will be no corruption," he said.

Team Anna met senior BJP leaders, including Advani and Arun Jaitley in the capital late Thursday. Arvind Kejriwal of Team Anna said that the BJP "broadly agreed" to their version of the anti-graft bill.

No party will agree for some of the provisions in Jan Lokpal bill
    1. MP's often repeated "question for cash".
    2. Rubbing the judicial system wrong way. A strong judicial system is never liked by utive system.
    3. Fixing a term for resolving alleations. This shortens a politician's political life.

Dear readers I totally agree with Mr. Ajith's statement that no one should extend any form of bribe to govt. servents to have your legal service done, but what if your work is delayed or not attended by giving various unrealistic reasons by the lower staffs and after having regular unsuccefull follow ups with them, you are left with a final option to lodgeg a complain with a higher authorites who intern corrupted and controls the lower officials and lets say the higher authority will assure you that he will inform the conerned dept. to sort out the matter immedeately or ASAP but his lower officials will get different advise purely against your assurance and your work will be delayed by lower officials by giving another false excuse saying lot of old files are pending to clear and it will take time to approve latest file requests and you will only end up in waiting days/weeks/months in getting approval without any legal reason or surrendering to these money making machines.
So normal or having non-political support people can only be laughing doll in the hands of these top to bottom corrupted govt. servents unless until we will have a strong people powered Jan Lokh Pal bill to lodge our legal service complain against any sort of bribe or corruption issues to an independant legal advising committee which is totally free from any govt control to give equal justice to every citizens of India. Jai Hind!

Bottom line is that all politicians are in one boat irrespective of party affiliation ,who don't want write verdict against them. But it is responsibility of BJP, main oppn party in national level to reach a consensus on the issue.Anna and Team also need to sit around table with oppn and ruling party to bring about truce in the on going tussles between them.It is our responsibility(CIVIL SOCIETY)to bring about an effective strong Janlokpal Bill under prevailing circumstances. We are only targeting politicians but bureaucratic share in this business more severe which affects common man on daily day to days life.Under the circumstance we can't trust any political parties of India in their NIYYATH to bring about a toothful, effective, and strong JANLOKPAL BILL.

Sooner than later BJP had to make its stand clear, it is common sense-why would BJP want a Strong Lokpal, suppose if they come to power at the center in next general election even they will be in soup because of a Strong Lokpal. At one hand they say the Jan Lokpal has flaws at the other hand they say they are in support of a strong lokpal, this is nothing but fooling people and trying to get maximum political points trough the ongoing crisis.

All the politicians,of course not interested in lokpal or jan lokpal.Thier main aim how we will win the election, how to get the creamy berths for them or to thier family. We should adopt the lokpal as independent body like election commision,so that we can control the corruption not all but some extent. It is time for younger generation to join politics so that we can we have newer version of political thinkings and ruling.

At least if this may clear some air to all those acused Anna as BJP or RSS agent!. By playing politics using Anna card, BJP dint do anything diffrent than what congress would have done if it was in opposition. Politics is all about seizing the opportunity and using it for self benifit. Anna would have been called Italian Mafia today in that case.
Since Anna has succeded in awakening the nation today, i think he should stop is fast and allow parlimet a chance to prove its functioneries and commmittments what the Govt has assured him. Pulling this like a rubber band will be self damagery for team Anna. Anyway from now on things will not be that easy for any Govt to loot the nation or protect the looters in their herd as the people of India have woken up...I ASSUME!!!

Jan Lokpal Bill should contain a sentence like this to get the nod from all the parties "Old files and transactions will not be opened, only future dealings will be monitored".
At present e.g., govt treasury passes Rs. 100 to any project, it is reaching Rs. 10 to the said project and the balance grabbed by these dirty people who are involved in it.

Double standards of BJP out in the open. they tried to play politics as long as they could but since now they have been cornered with the govt agreeing to discuss anna's version (which they should have done at the first instance to expose BJP) these bunch of jokers party (bjp) comes out with conflicting statements. on one hand gadkari backs jan lokpal bill but bjp parliamentarians know the consequences too well and rightly object.

"BJP Accepts Jan Lokpal Bill: Gadkari Writes to Anna" "Flaws in Jan Lokpal Bill, Can't Get Passed: Advani". GUYS PLS READ 2-BJP TOP LEADERS 2-DIFFERENT COMMENTS ON SO CALLED LOKPAL BILL. AS A MATURED POLITICIAN ADVANI IS CORRECT, AS IMMATURED POLITICIAN GADKARI SHOWS IN INEXPERIENCE IN BJP POLITICS. AS A DEMOCRATIC PROCESS, IN OUR CONSTITUTION THE CIVILIANS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE ANY POLICIES DRAFTS, BUT THAT ARE MADE ONLY BY LOKSABHA & RAJYASABHA BASED ON DISCUSSIONS IN PARLIAMENT.

CONSTITUTIONAL EXPERTS ARE THERE TO CHECK ALL THESE. THE SELF PROCLAIMED CIVIL SOCIETY MEMBERS LIKE ANNA-HAZARE, KEJARIWAL, KIRANBEDI, PRASHATH BHUSHAN, SHANTI BHUSHAN MUST HAVE TO GET ELECTED AS MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT OR RAJYA SABHA MEMBER FROM THE GENERAL ELECTION, AFTER THAT THEY CAN SIT IN PARLIAMENT & ARGUE FOR THIS. SATYA GRAHAS ARE RESPECTED DURING MAHATMA GANDHI TIME, BUT NOT NOW.

WHERE WAS ANNA-TEAM WHEN THERE IS OPEN CORRUPTION IN OUR POOR STATE IN KARNATAKA??? WHY THAT TIME NO-BODY INVITED TEAM ANNA TO MAKE A FASTING WITH STUDENTS & JOBLESS PEOPLE. SO WAKE-UP GUYS, WE ALL NEED STRONG LOKPAL BILL IN OUR COUNTRY, BUT NOT IN THIS WAY, CORRUPTION IS EVERYWHEER, FROM THYE GRASS ROOT LEVEL, PANCHAYAT-TALUK-DISTRICT-STATE. IT IS NOT A EASY TASK, LET US GIVE MORE TRAINING TO YOUNGSTERS TO TAKE CHARGE OF THIS OUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY. JAI-HO-BAHRAT

It was my firm view that both BJP and Congress are NOT SINCERE in implementing Anna version of Jan Lokpal bill for obvious reasons.Hence BJP was keeping a low profile throughout Anna's protest programme. It's only serving a lip service to show the public that it is concerned about bring in a strong anti corruption bill. Both Congress and BJP are two sides of same coin as far as issue of corruption is concerned.Government is only playing it's delay tactices on the direction of Sonia from hospital bed in USA to scuttle thee Anna movement.Though RSS has said to be backing the Anna movement is also not sincere in its assertions. In total entire political parties in the country are not keen on bring in the strong anti corrutpion bill.
However we are hopeful only Anna who will not budge to any tactices from any corner and seee that India gets a strong anti corruption bill passed in the Parliament.
People should decide on course of action for electing new government in 2014 based on Anna's ideals.

I really apperciate the honesty of Advani.(Any way he has no future in politics.)But,why nitin gadkari keep saying that he and party is with BJP.I think he has the hidden agenda is to take credit once the bill is passed. But UPA also smart and delayed it to 11 days to make people realise that nobody in politics are infavor of the Bill.More delay in passing the bill is better for the UPA.Then only people will understand that it is not only the ruling party but also the opposition who made lip seens at the JPC meeting on Lokpal. The politicians will never cut a tree by sitting on its branches.

NOW WHEN ADVANI IS NOT PREPERED TO PASS THE JAN LOKPAL BILL AT THE PRESENT FORM, THEN WHAT IS LEFT. IN ONE WAY WHAT ADVANI SAYS ITS CORRECT. THE JAN LOKPAL BILL HAS GOT SEVERAL INHERENT FLAWS. SO THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE CARE OF IT BEFORE GIVING A GREEN SIGNAL. THAT MEANS BJP IS ALSO NOT SUPPORTING ANNA'S BILL. THEN WHY BJP IS SHOUTING ABOUT CORRUPTION. BJP KNOWS IF THEY COME TO POWER IN 2014 LOKSABHA ELECTIONS FOR THEM ALSO IT WILL BE DIFFICULT TO GOVERN WITH SUCH KIND OF JAN LOKPAL BILL. SO BJP IS THINKING OF THE FUTURE AND NOT PRESENT. WHEN ADVANI HIMSELF IS CORRUPT DEFINITELY HE WILL NOT AGREE TO PASS THIS BILL. BECAUSE ANNA IS FASTING AND HIS HEALTH IS DETERIOTING THAT DOES NOT MEAN THE GOVENRNEMT SHOULD NOT TAKE HASTY DECISIONS AND BE CAREFUL BEFORE PASSING THIS CRUCIAL BILL.

There it is.As I commented earlier no government can accept Anna's demand. We all want corruption to end.So stop giving bribes. It should be like no cooperation movement by Gandhi.Public should say no to bribes. There is no need for any law.
