Mangaluru, Oct 28: "Chief minister Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the state is running an autocratic government. It is like Hitler's administration. The government is indulging in hatred politics and trying to suppress the voice of the people, activists and people who are in favor of nationalism, Hindu leaders, and political representatives of opposition parties," said state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, November 28, he said, “There are several instances in the state where attempts were made to curb the rights of elected representatives by the present Congress government. Recently, an elected representative was manhandled by the superintendent of police in Kolar. The same things are going on in our district.
“Recently in the district, when our representatives raised their voice in favour of a farmer at Kalenja in Beltangady taluk, our MLC was manhandled by the officials of the police department.
“Our MLA and MLC had opposed the move of the forest department after they fell several rubber plants and removed the foundation constructed by one Devanna Gowda to build a house in survey number 309 at Kalenja village in Beltangady taluk. The forest department officials along with the range forest officer (RFO) removed the foundation and fell the rubber trees. The MLA and MLC visited the spot and built a temporary shelter for the family as it is the duty of the representatives. The forest department deployed four platoons of KSRP while the representatives visited the spot. Later, MLA Harish Poonja contacted the minister for forest over the phone and explained the ordeal to him. In response, the minister had asked the officials to hold a joint survey of the land and until then to maintain status quo. The BJP is always in the favour of farmers. Without serving the notice to the farmer, the forest department officials had demolished the foundation.
“Two days after the incident, an FIR was lodged against the MLA. This was done to suppress the voice of an elected representative. The government is making efforts to even send the elected representatives behind bars. Unfortunately, the state government has failed to register an FIR against anti-social elements who raised slogans in favour of Pakistan, brandished swords, and created violence in the society. The state government is in favour of anti-national elements,” he said.
Over mediapersons query on how far it was correct for MLA Harish Poonja to post derogatory comments against the CM, Nalin said, “The MLA has shared a post created by someone else. Siddaramaiah has made several derogatory statements against the prime minister of the country. Moreover, he (CM) termed him (PM) a murderer. Is it correct?”
On a question if the BJP is making an effort to poach Congress MLAs to destabilise the government in the state, Nalin said, "The internal dispute within the Congress has intensified. There are three groups in the state Congress. One of Siddaramaiah, the second one of D K Shivakumar and another one of Satish Jarkiholi. In the coming days, the Congress government will collapse because of their internal fight.”
Nalin said that several farmers had committed suicide in Siddaramaiah's regime and added that the state BJP has formed various teams to study drought-hit taluks in the state. “Within November 10, the team are directed to should submit the report to the party,” he said.
