Comment : Rise of Rahul Gandhi, Resurgent Democracy

Opinion by Ravinder Singh

Aug 26: It was thrilling and defining moment in Indian History when Rahul Gandhi rose up today in parliament and out lined comprehensive program to reinforce Indian Democracy, Remove Corruption at all levels particularly at high level by introducing Funding of Parties, Anti Corruption Constitutional Authority and greater Inner Party Democracy etc.

He also emphasized Exploitation of Farmers and Poor on Land Acquisition and PDS loot.

He also termed Anna movement is undermining Indian Constitution & Parliament, and could eventually lead to disintegration of Indian Society.

I fully agreement with him Lok Pal could be Corrupt.

My view with over 35 years experience – JanLokpal shall largely be manipulated to ‘BLUNT’ law enforcement against Ambanis and Bania, Hoarders, Mafia and Moneylenders.

CAG for example while Calculated ‘Assumptive Loss’ at Rs.1,76,000 crores that was wild – he didn’t tell us Consumers benefit – Tariff reduction from around Rs.3 per minute for local calls to Rs.1 per is REAL GAINS.

But CAG didn’t calculate REAL loss in failure of SSNNL project operational 6% of planned irrigation command.

Anna himself was indicted by Justice Sawant to be operating 10 trusts and not keeping records of donations received and never submitted annual accounts.

    Rahul ji,
It is better to go and sleep as you did for last 8 months. As a citizen of India asking you,Where you slept beofre 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8 months?

One sincere request,Please think for people of our country.
Personally my view is ,you are most welcome to take initiate more ,more ...and more anticorruption law,but first of all,let us try to create a anticorruption base first, then take this move forward, who will oppose you.Youth of our country will support you to do that.

Rahul's speech was totally disappointing. He repeated his father's line "hume yeh banana hei, woh banana hei" Not even a single proposal "kaise or kab banana" or why it is not being done. On the other hand Straight forward countering of Anna's bill - point by point would have setteled the matter - aar ya par.

When Rahul started the speach I was telling my friend - this is the right time for him to step in as PM in place of now jaded MMS and boldly announce some initiative. He could have caught the imagination of youth. He ended up reading Sibal/ Singhvi's written statement instead.
