Mangaluru / Udupi, Oct 29: Poornaprajna Amateur Astronomers' Club, captured the partial lunar eclipse of October 28 and 29 from Udupi and Mangaluru.
The eclipse could be seen from the beginning as the penumbral phase of the eclipse Began at 11:31 pm on Saturday, October 28.
The shadow of the earth became visible on the Moon from 1 am on October 29, and became more and more prominent until 1:44 am.
After the eclipse peaked, around 2 am, the moon was covered by clouds and the eclipse could not be viewed thereafter in many regions of Udupi and Mangaluru.
Unlike in the past when temples remain closed during the eclipse, Udupi Krishna Math remained open during the eclipse.The temple authorities allowed devotees to offer their prayers during the Grahana through dhyana.
Earlier, most of the temples downed their shutters by Saturday evening until the eclipse got over. Temples cleaned their premises this morning and opened the doors for public darshan.
