Bengaluru, Oct 31: The prices of onion has reached Rs 70 per kilo in the capital city and other important cities of the country. Though the union government began to sell onion which it has in stock at Rs 25 per kilo, in the open market the price is increasing steadily.
Yield of onion is reduced in onion growing areas due to scarcity of rain and floods. In addition, the rise in demand for onion after Navaratri festival resulted in the sudden hike in prices. The officials say that the price will be in upward trend and may reach Rs 100 in December.
