Udupi, Aug 27: A house belonging to Manjunath Acharya near Brahmanarabettu under Voddarse gram panchayat near Brahmavar in the taluk crashed to the ground all of a sudden, at around midnight on Thursday August 26.

The family members escaped unscathed in the tragedy, as they were still preparing to go to sleep when the incident happened.

As soon as they heard the sound of a part of the house crumbling, the house inmates ran outside. Within minutes, the walls and roof crashed to the ground, creating a huge mound of debris. Two sewing machines, television set, utensils, clothes etc, totally valued at around three lac rupees were lost by the family in this incident.

The locals feel that the house crashed due to incessant rain on Thursday night, because of the fact that small portion of the walls immediately after the foundation, were built of earthen bricks. Manjunath Acharya, his wife, Parvati, two daughters, and a son used to stay here. Another son of Acharya works at Bangalore. His daughters worked as tailors at their home.

MLA, Halady Srinivas Shetty, MLC, Kota Srininivas Poojary, taluk panchayat member, Parimala R Shetty, former zilla panchayat member, Shankar Kunder, Voddarse gram panchayat president, Gopalakrishna Kanchan and various other leaders visited the family and promised to provide assistance from the government.

Mr.Robin,Please think before you make such comments.Think if your family was in the such situation, We shouldn't be communal & we should have some humanity consideration. People like you create communal clashes & thats the reason there are clashes between communities going on.

Robin & Noor you guys make nonsense comments when the news are on specific issue/event. What is the fun in discussing and doing R&D on Achari or Acharya .If you could help this family just do it .If not just read the news & ignore .For Robin's info. Acharis are not only carpenters, . D't show your sympathy or make comments by looking on the pictures /caste. In every religion & caste there are various levels of peoples

We feel very sad for some of the comments. While people are in distress ,please dont look at the religion(community) or castes(as in our country) whether they belong to acharya or achari(brahmin or non brahmin)Please help them, pray for their safety or just keep quite.Whichever castes or community they belong, they are our brothers/cousins in humanity.

Congrats to all family members who evaded prospective destruction by the nature. They are lucky and I think god certainly showed his sympathy for them.Taluk and District admin need to help them in any one of the Central or state flood relief scheme.

Very sad to see the pictures.Cannot even imagine what we would have done if we were in similar situation.I request Daijiworld to give contact details of Manjunth Acharya as it is the known truth that we cannot depend on govt for any action and specially if the victim of the situation is BRAHMIN

I do agree with Mr. Noor M. Mangalore. These acharya's are belongs to Vishwakarma community and inherited with 5 professions. Carpentry is one of the amongst 5. Basically they are very smart people. If you see all the ancient creations are beautifully done by them. due to some reason some families are not well to do, please don't make fun out of it by putting unnecessary comments. Thanks Mr. Noor to pointing out the remarks.

I also feel sorry about the time the house collapsed (Rainy day). They are in an urgent need of alternate shelter.

These Acharis build good house for others but they live in delicate house. Everyone knows acharis earn well for their work. Amazing but true. But nobody knows how they expend.

But there are some exceptional cases if no solid earning member in the family or ill health they may have troubles accumulating the least
