Kolkata, Nov 2: The daughter of a grocery seller made her parents proud by cracking the UPSC examination thrice.
Shweta Agarwal was placed 19th AIR in 2016 UPSC examinations in her third attempt.
Her parents were reportedly not happy with her birth as they wanted a baby boy. However, the family decided to educate the daughter and Shweta came off with flying colours by clearing the UPSC examinations.
Shweta did her graduation in economics from St Xavier’s College Kolkata after attending primary schooling at St Joseph’s convent school Bandel.
In her first attempt, Shweta secured 497th rank. She got appointed in IRS service but did not take it as she wanted to be an IAS officer. Hence, she took the second attempt in which she got 141st rank but again was deprived of the coveted IAS posting. So she took the examination once again and got a staggering 19th rank in India and became an IAS officer.
