Delhi Metro shuts three stations near parliament


New Delhi, Aug 27 (IANS) Three Delhi Metro stations close to parliament here were shut from 4 p.m. Saturday on the orders of Delhi Police, an official said.

The stations are Udyog Bhawan, Central Secretariat and Patel Chowk on the Huda City Centre-Jahangirpuri corridor.

"They (police) have said the closure is due to security reasons. These stations will be closed for public from 4 p.m. till further directions," the Metro official said.

Services on all other stations will run normally, he added.

Parliament has been debating the Lokpal bill and sources said that protesters may march to parliament.

Four Delhi Metro stations in the vicinity of the prime minister's residence were shut Thursday.
