Bahrain, Nov 4: Third anniversary Patla Sambhrama-2023 of Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation R Mangaluru, Bahrain-Saudi unit was held in the auditorium of Kannada Sangha here.
Dr Moodambailu Ravi Shetty, honorary president of Yakshadhruva Patla foundation Qatar was the chief guest. Shobha Purushottama Poonja and Patla Satish Shetty, founder president of Patla Foundation were also on the dais.
The programme began with lighting of the lamp. This year the theme was memorial of Bottikere Purushottama Poonja, who is called as Abhinava Valmiki. His disciple Deevit Kotiyan, who arrived from motherland offered tribute to Poonja. Shobha Purushottama Poonja was honoured by presenting a shawl, memento, fruits and honour letter.
Chief guest Dr Moodambailu Ravi Shetty was traditionally felicitated. In his speech Ravi Shetty congratulated the Yakshdhruva Patla Foundation that is providing financial help to poor artistes through the cooperation of Yakshagana lovers of India and abroad.
Founder president Patla Satish Shetty mentioned about the various projects of Late Bottikere Bota Foundation and Yakshashikshana campaign. Subhashchandra, honorary president of Bahrain Saudi unit extended his good wishes. Amarnath Rai, president of Kannada Sangha Bahrain, Naveen Shetty Iruvail, president of Bunts Qatar, Gopal Shetty, honour of unit, Ravi Karkera, sponsor of art, Saudi Arabia and Narendra Shetty, vice president were present on the dais.
Sponsors of Patla Sambhrama were congratulated with honorary mementos. Hundreds of spectators watched Manishada Yakshagana play presented on Late Bottikere Purushottama Poonja stage. The play was presented by Yakshagana artistes of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and guest artistes.
Local artistes and renowned Yakshagana artiste of Tenku-Badagu thittu Shashikant Shetty, who arrived from motherland acted in excellent manner in the roles of Swairini and Sita. Natyaguru Deepak Rao Pejawar was the director. Chende Maddale was played by Rohit Ucchil. Senior Yakshagana artiste of Dubai Shekhar Shettigar Kinnigoli gave stellar performance in the role of Sri Rama. Bhagavathike was done by Yakshadhruva Patla Satish Shetty. Young Bhagavatha Roshan S Kotian also provided support. Local background music artistes Dhananjaya Kinnigoli, Ganesh Kateel and Akshit Suvarna participated.
Senior artiste Mohan Edaneeru provided maintenance cooperation. Chief convenor of the unit Ramaprasad Ammenadka managed costume and overall coordination. Dinner was served to the attendees at the end of the programme. Rajesh B Shetty of Yakshadhruva Patla foundation Bahrain-Saudi unit did the introductory speech. Kamalaksha Amin compered the event. Vice president Narendra Shetty rendered vote of thanks.
