Lalu, Sharad Yadav, Paswan slam Anna aides

New Delhi, Aug 27 (IANS) Leaders from the Hindi heartland, including Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president Sharad Yadav and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan, took a dig at members of Anna Hazare's team for "misleading the social activist".

Speaking in the Lok Sabha during a discussion on Hazare's demands related to the anti-graft Lokpal bill, Lalu Prasad said: "Anna is being misled by the people around him. Kiran Bediji, if you want to contest the elections, go."

Lalu Prasad said Hazare's aide Arvind Kejriwal was trying to dictate the draft legislation to parliament. "Kejriwal is teaching us. Tell him standing committee is a mini-parliament."

Participating in the debate, Sharad Yadav said the language some of the protesters at Ramlila Maidan were using against parliamentarians was "not worth repeating", noting that this had left a deep impact on him.

Urging protesters to remain civil and choose their words carefully, he said: "Please keep your words within limits and we shall also keep ours in limits."

"The situation has become so serious that a member of parliament was forced to de-board a train by other passengers... He had to take the next train," he said, to shouts of "shame, shame" from MPs in the house.

Calling Hazare's associates as new-found leaders, Sharad Yadav said during his public life he had led protests himself but he had not seen such leaders who had no conviction about the cause for which they were fighting.

"Most protesters are attending a carnival. They roam about watching the fun, have snacks and head to Ramlila Maidan. There are others who are permanent protesters. If they see a rally of 20 or 50, they'll immediately join the crowd," he said.

Yadav also had a word of criticism for Hazare, accusing him of not recalling leaders such as Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and B.R. Ambedkar, who too were from Maharashtra, but only mentioning Chhatrapati Shivaji, Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru.

Paswan read out an article quoting Swami Agnivesh saying the people around Hazare were misleading him and that the movement was becoming anti-minority and anti-Dalit.

"This is not an issue of corruption, we all are against corruption. This is an attack on the interest of weaker sections, we are not going to let it happen. Why are NGOs kept out of Lokpal," asked Paswan.

When a dog is cornered by a dog catcher instead of barks you hear squels because the dog knows that it is almost over and it is going inside. The behavior of these 3 lalus is exactly like that. BJP has failed as the main oppositionparty as it's leaders should hav gone on hunger strike not Annaji. Being the main opposition party it is it's job to constantly create awareness about issues, educate people on how to understand issues and keep ruling party in check by constant challenging them. But since they are also as corrupt as the congress they can't say much to congress. Hence they are reduced to extending their shelf life's in BJP leadership not willing to abdicate in favor of young generation.

Some politicians, after being elected, forget that public elect them to serve them. instead they think themselves super power.all politicians opposing Anna"s movement have never been fair in their politics life. Lalu and Mayawati are challenging Anna"s team to fight elections. charra scam for Lalu, taj corridor for Mayawati, accumulation of wealth beyond known sources for Mulayam and Mayawati. how much donation Mayawati takes for allotting tickets is not hidden.they know that an strong lokpal bill will not be in their interest. these are politicians who are running their politics business only on casteism. they should know that dalits/obcs are most affected by corruption in making ration cards, job cards etc.

A strong lokpal bill does not discriminate between casts, groups and religion. in beginning "tilak, taraju and talwar inko maaro jute char" was the only one slogan of bsp. now the slogan is no more because bsp is in power in up only due to votes of upper casts. more than 60% mlas are from upper casts. Mayawati has abondened the slogan, boycotted the cause of dalits only to be in power.her house is costing 62 lacs.she has come in line with Saddam to build her statue in her life time.dalits are nowhere.what has happened to Lalu, Sharad and Paswan in Bihar election is well known.most of the politicians have lost their morale and they are unable to see public's frustration & helplessnes against corruption.elected tyrants, wake.next issue of public may be electoral reforms.

These regional leaders including Mayavathi appear to be scared whether Anna is making inroads into their sphere of influence. Otherwise there is no justification for them to give the movement a communal/caste colour. At no time did Anna or other active members of civil society say anything that hurt the sentiments of any religion/group/clan/tribe. If people are small minded and want to behave like a frog in the well, can we help them?

Since the Lallus of this Parliament, corrupt, evil and scheming have brought such disrepute to the country and its Parliament, maybe they should just shut up. If Parlimentarians had done their duty, civil society would not have had to step in. Our leaders have failed us and we had no other recourse to a fair, equitable transparent democracy. Our Pariamentarians forget that they are not the bosses of the people of India - they are their servants. Civil society stepping in is not illegal. Direct Democracy works when indirect democracy through these rogues, do not.

If I remember right, these same Parliamentarians voted themselves a substantial pay hike recently and in record time without any problem, though none of them deserved it. All they do is fight among themselves and help themselves to the money set aside for welfare.

I hope the final bill incorporates the idea that those who have cases against them should be barred from standing for elections. Their place should not be in India's parliament but in our jails. But they should be made to pay for their stay there !

I don't really understand what these 3 guys are doing in parliament. I doubt whether they know what this movement is about. I myself belong to the SO CALLED weaker section of the society. These guys say they are the leaders of the weaker section of the society. I believe the weaker section of our society is the poor people who struggle everyday to feed their children. These kind of leaders go to them only at the time of elections.

After that they rest in peace in the lavishness they are provided by the government which comes as perks to all the MP's. And by the time they are thrown out of power, they actually acumulate so much money that they and their families can live their entire life lavishly. Mr Laalu has done nothing but to promote crime in Bihar during their tenure. Mr Paswan has earned a lot while holding different ministries in Central government. And Mr Sharad has done nothing for anyone except from winning elections on the basis of his caste.

Of course I do not have any proof of these but, all common people will accept this. Even if the people around Anna may be forcing government for few things but it is for the people of india and not for themselves. Also, these people do not have the right to say anything about likes of Kiran Bedi. They should be thinking a million times b4 saying such things for team Anna. But of course if they have such sensibilities they wud have been better politicians and better human beings.

Shame on you guys. We have seen how you guys act inside the parliament. We have seen what happens in your rallies.
The proof of Anna's crowd comes from the statement of a girl who went to Ramlila maidan - that for the first time nobody groped her in the crowd and why the people can't behave this way in markets, buses etc.?
Yes, some of the comments of Ms. Bedi et.al are unpalateable. But so are the comments from politicians like Manish Tewary.

It is sad a Person like Laloo Prasad Yadav become chief minister of a State . These bihari politicians have fake degrees. laloo is a LLB from bihar but somebody gave the exams for him. They feel inferior to a Kejriwal or a Kiran bedi. fooder Scam he was involved. They have a inferiority complex comparing themselves with any educated person. Laloo Yadav is the most corrupt person in Indian history. Sharad Yadav is only for scheduled castes . He has enjoyed full benefits for reservation but denied the same in parliament. Yadav an OBC in india what a joke.
