Mangalore, Aug 28: “People residing in Gulf countries who wholeheartedly donate for poor students’ education show their love for motherland despite having to struggle there day and night to earn their livelihood.

The initiation taken by members of Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates(NE) in distributing scholarships to eligible poor students is commendable”, opined former central minister Janardhan Poojary.

He was speaking at the scholarship distribution programme organized by Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates at Sri Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara temple hall here on Sunday August 28.

Poverty makes an individual to understand the essence of life. It is not a curse, in fact it is a boon, he said. In a unique gesture Poojary offered financial help to some of the poorest students on the stage.

Jithendra Suvarna, president of Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates, Jaya Suvarna, president, Billawa Mahamandala Mulky, Praveen Attavar, vice-president, Uday Kumar Kateel, secretary, Madhava Poojary, chief secretary, Jayashree Suvarna, Krishnappa Poojary, Vishwanath Ameen, Muddu Moodubelle, H S Sairam, Jithendra Suvarna, Mohan Attavara among others were present.

On the occasion a sum of Rs 9 lac scholarship money was distributed to poor students for their further studies. A few poor students were given scholarships for their medical education expenditure. Also Rs 1, 85,000 was distributed to people suffering from various ailments to meet their medical expenses.

Billawas Dubai & Northern Emirates have been distributing educational scholarships since 2006 every year and have extended scholarships worth Rs 25,45,000 to almost 823 students.
 
This year Billawas Dubai & NE have distributed scholarships to the tune of Rs 7,42,000 to 221 students together with medical aid of Rs 2,17,500 to 12 patients. Previous year at the same venue they distributed Rs 6,96,500 to 229 students.
 
With the current year’s financial assistance to students and poor patients the BDNE’s total contribution so far amounts to Rs 53,60,500, during this recession period.

    Dear all, BDNE (Billawas Dubai & Northern Emirates) has its own motto on education program. BDNE will give its best service to poor students back at homeland. Please note that out of 221 students (this year) 75 percent of the students are on continual education scheme under BDNE. These students are receiving the scholarship since few years and it will be continued till they reach their goal on education. This is the speciality of BDNE.
    BDNE’s total contribution so far amounts to Rs 53, 60,500 (Fifty three lakhs sixty thousand five hundred) is a hard earned and generously donated by the members as well the well wishers. Let  god give more strength to serve the people. Congratulations to the Education committee as well the whole team of BDNE.
